Introduction
The Alusian Calendar is a little different from our own.
There are 12 months of 30 days, and 4 intercalary high holidays between the seasons resulting in 364 days per year. The year is also divided into 52 7-day weeks.
The moon has a 28 day cycle, the first day of the year (Beltane) is always a full moon, and the quarters of the moon fall on Moonday. The Calendar pages use a symbol to show the phases of the moon:
| New Moon | Waxing Half | Full Moon | Waning Half |
Unlike Earth Alusia does not have blue moons as the months are more closely tied to the lunar cycle.

The Wheel of the Year
The Wheel of the Year marks the natural cycle of the seasons, commemorated by eight major seasonal festivals; the four high holidays, two solstices and two equinoxes.
Other Notable Days
Other Calendars
Western Kingdom Calendar
The names of the months given above are in common use in most of Western Alusia. Other names can be found in distant areas. Many of them are based on Lunar and Stellar Calendars. To automatically convert between different Calendars, use the Date Conversion page.
Insel der Freiheit
The Calendar for Insel der Freiheit is based on locally signficant traditional names and numbers, with 23 days in a week, and 18 months of 20 days, as well as 4 intercalary days at the start of each year of 364 days.
Kinlu / Alfheim
The traditionalist Erelheine of Kinlu persist in the use of the ancient Elven calendar dating before the War of Tears. This calendar is also in use in some of the more conservative parts of Alfheim. This calendar is sometimes known as the Reformed Elven Calendar (ironically, we have no exact date for this reform). The traditional Elven year begins with Samhain and the winter season, and the month names (translated to Common) are:
- Silver Stars
- World's Edge
- Knife Wind
- Waking World
- Forest Heart
- Radiant Blooms
- Falling Blossom
- Waving Grass
- Govannon's Forge
- Anu's Bounty
- Gathering Dark
- Dying Sun
Elvish Isles
The sailors of the Elvish Isles are equally aware of the wind variance throughout the Seasons and the tides caused by the Moon, and use the Elvish Seasonal Calendar, which is a compromise between the Old and Reform Calendars. Being skilled navigators 7 star-gazers, they can quickly convert dates to the appropriate idiom, whether dealing with Humans, Erelhei, Drow, or their putative overlords from Alfheim.
Drow
The Old Elven Calendar is a non-seasonal calendar that is used by the ancient Elven peoples primarily living around the equator - i.e. the Drow. It is closely tied to the phase, size, and position of the Moon amongst the stars, which is also highly relevant for a Lunar-worshipping noctural race.

| AP Date | WK Date | Historical Notes |

| 500 AP | -700 WK | First strong post-Panjari societies |
