Blessed Zone - 3.14 x 21^2 = 1384.74 sq.miles 640 acres / sq.mile So there for there are 1384.74 x 640 = 886233.6 acres in the blessed zone Average area not useable across the UK in the middle ages (rivers, roads, forest, cities etc) is approximately 30%. Given that dedicated farmland was selected estimate the wastage at 10% So 886233.6 x 0.9 = 797610 acres are planted (round down) Middle Ages farming produced between 6 and 10 (or so) Bushels of Wheat per acre (modern farming methods / hybrid plants etc average around 100 bushels of wheat per acre) ( http://www.hyw.com/books/history/agricult.htm , http://www.ucpress.edu/content/chapters/11633.ch01.pdf ) Given that the blessing ensures a bountiful harvest then 797610 x 10 = 7,976,100 (or just short of 8 million bushels of wheat will be produced) (note taking one estimate of a family of 5 (alive at any time, given high mortality rate of children) requiring 36 bushels of wheat a year, this is enough wheat to feed approximately 1,100,000 people for a year) Price of wheat is 7sp / bushel of wheat (this is according to wiki price list - Price List) for standard prices (rather then the enflated prices the party could in theory currently get)

7,976,100 bushels x 7sp / bushel = 55,832,700sp worth of Wheat

So presuming that the party takes as payment 10% of that we are looking at 5,583,270sp to split between the party (6 ways) or payment in kind.

  • Average area not useable across the UK in the middle ages (rivers, roads, forest, cities etc) is approximately 30%. Given that dedicated farmland was selected estimate the wastage at 10% 10% usable might be ok, but I would guess more like 20 or 30, as we are drawing a circle, and not some shape more in line with the landscape. The other multipliers (a) are proportion that gets seeded (seed availability and distribution via flying, including 'sowing' seed by accident on unsuitable ground) (b) any impact on yield from airborne seeding versus hand seeding, I assume two seeds right next to each other don't give you the same return as doing it properly. --Errol (talk) 14:09, 17 September 2014 (MDT)
