Currently the only regions encountered by Guild members on Shwinta are the Steppes of Galnoth a grassland stretching for some 1200 across and 400 miles north/south. The terrain is relativly flat and treeless, but is home to thousands of varieties of grass some reaching up to six feet in height. To the north lie low hills.

Places

  • The buried city.

In the north of the grasslands some 200 feet underground there is a large ruined city. The only entrance to this place is down a 2 mile tunnel 50 feet in diameter from the grasslands. The city is presently occupied by the followers of Chantres a fertility goddess exported from Alusia by Father Rowan. While the bulk of the city is still in an extreme state of disrepair, the temple area has been renovated and many areas show signs of recent rebuilding.

  • Village of the Air Stone.

This village is simply known as the village to its people and has no other name. Twelve miles from the tunnel entrance lies a small village of pygmys. In the centre of the village is a circular stone carved inscribed with Runes. This activates a portal to the tower of Marcus the Black in the DeBourgnac lands. In a hut nearby is a blue eight sided cystal with numbers carved on the eight faces. Around this crystal extends a high mana zone for Air mages and nullified all mana for Earth Mages.

People

Pygmies

  • He Who spits Lightning. The Village chief of the Air Stone village. He talks rapidly in Shwintar Pygmy and has the attention span of a small child during a sugar rush.
  • Broken Mouse. The tribal shaman. A skilled rune mage he listens carefully and says little. He has the ability to cast a spell that allows people to speak the local lingo.
  • Sinks like Bricks. The Chiefs Son. As smart as the briks he is named after, but a very skilled warrior/hunter.
  • Two Dogs fighting. The smarter son of the Chief.

Trolls

  • Oaksmasher is the tribal leader for the troll clans that reside in the hills north of the village. They are skilled miners and produce metal items to trade with the Pygmies.

Skeletons

  • Count Jacob Numbers is a Necromancer who resides in the Buried City. He is 5'10" and is reasonably good looking and in his early thirties. He looks after the skeletons and Zombies that are created in the area. He is an nice if somewhat scatty philosopher who spends his time studying the city and the tunnels below.

Recent History

10 years ago the buried city was the scene of a War between two brothers. Jacob was fighting a losing battle against his brother Garven who was a binder. Garven was stealing local women and forcing them to bear his children. The children were then used to power Golems bound to Garven. Jabob fought back by kidnapping the local women and Petit morting them to deny his enemy the women he needed. Eventually a Guild party captured Garven and Jacob released the women.

A few years later Garven was again causing trouble on another Plane and was leading an army of Demons. He was again vanquished and died of his wounds.

On another plane Father Rowan had been married to a local noble woman. In order to bless the marriage he called upon his Goddess Chantres to bless the area where the wedding was to be held. The Goddess appeared to the new Priest and despite Father Rowan returning to Alusia the religion flourished. Some years later the religion fissioned and split into those who followed Chantres (Fertility Goddess) and Chandres (The War God). As the war raged the followers of Chantres eventually fled the plane and arrived on Shwintar. Since that time they have moved into the Buried City and have settled in peace.
