Back to the Fastness of Girwyllan

Over the time he was awake and worked with the Dwarves the Shaper also gathered some helpers to his side, other than his dead ranger Swithan.

Wise Old Owl

There seem to be two of these, one male, one female. The Owl can be met with by using one of the short cuts to get to her. She is around 5 feet tall. She only comes out at night. DAs as a LLS aura. GTN Wise Owl. Friendly to the Seagate Guild of adventurers. She has a wealth of knowledge about the Fastness. She understands and speaks common at rank 8. She can be summoned using a bowl of air and pine needles next to a river.

Elementals

Within the Fastness the Elementals have reformed. They are smarter than other elementals and are meaner than most.

Air Elemental

The Air Elemental is unhappy with non-natural flying creatures flying within the Fastness. It will track down and attack anyone it thinks has been flying unless they have made an alliance of the air which is made with a bowl of air.

Water Elemental

Kilroy the adventurer killed the water elemental. This lead to Clementine the Water Nixie becoming free willed.

Fire Elemental

Has not been seen for years. Victim of a Gold Ball.

Swithan

Also see Swithan's Roughlands
Swithan died at the hands of some pirates. The Shaper ordered a fortress to the north of the valley to be built. Atop a small hill it commanded great views of the coast and Confederation Bay. After being manned for a few years and no real pirate activity the Castle fell into disuse and ruin. Rumour has it that it has since be occupied by a Necromancer and fellow adventurers looking for a lost treasure.

Feldo & Gross

There were the two Elven mages from Kinlu, Feldo and Gross. An E&E and Earth mage by arcane skill, they studied under the Shaper until their transformation into Gargoyles at the hands of the jealous Harpies. The two Elves went mad and the Shaper was forced to bind their Wills and Souls into a perfect crystal which the Dwarves had mined from the Crystal Springs mine. After some time they became 'more normal again' and found a Basilisk. They named the Basilisk Erny and treat him as a pet. A group of Adventurers helped heal back Feldo & Gross's broken wings by shaping stone on them. Later another powerful adventurer Ambar the Healer returned them to their normal form.

The Harpies

There were also the four Harpies; Angela, Fiona, Margaret and Suzy, who brought great insight and knowledge of the terrible troubles ahead for the Shaper in the form of prophecy. The Shaper used the perfect crystal to bind their wills and give them great knowledge of magic and some extra skills. The Harpies saw parts of the future and feared they would be killed by Feldo and Gross. They spent many days plotting and planning the demise of the two Elves. They even transformed them into Gargoyles and cursed them. Once the Shaper hadn't been seen for many years they attacked them and broke their wings off. The Harpies became the leaders of a powerful band of Undead, Goblins and Orcs. They stole the Crystal of Shape, recruited more Harpies and use the crystal on them along with the fish to make the new recruits powerful. In time they came to revere the Shaper as god creator. They once lived in a huge fortress known as Buzzard Rock.

Green Water Goblins

Local area of the Green Goblins

The Green Water Goblins tribe feeds the large Kraken that lives in the Green Waters. The lake is completely covered by a mat of fine grass weed, about three feet thick. The Lake is north of the village that is built in the reeds. The tribal priests know the secret ways to harvest the magical green waters from the bottom of the lake. The waters heal injuries. The Green Water Goblins are the keepers of some powerful magics known by the goblins as Recipe Magics.

The Red Hat Goblins

Goblin fort in east

These Goblins are the nasty and cruel type of evil little monster that most people think of when the name Goblin is said. The have an Ogre-Magi leader that has a couple of Ogre bully boys.

There are about 300+ of them living in the caves and tunnels some miles east of the central Standing Stones. Their major caves are all connected by tunnels. Their main raiding fort is also connected by tunnel (see picture).

When food becomes scarce they will often move east to their raiding fort that over looks the 'rich-farm lands of western Carzala. The Duke has attacked the fort a few times over the years. The goblins prefer to come out at night. They distrust strangers preferring to see them dead in the cooking pot.

Orson Wells

Orson on a good day

An Orc assassin/thief/bandit that will work for anyone paying. He has worked for and betrayed Guild parties and the Harpies in the past. He has been killed once by a band of Guild adventurers and is thinking of starting a new life as a baker, and has saved 6,200SP. Orson lives in fear of Lysander killing him.

The Oracle

There was also the Oracle, a Queen Naga that lived in the temple half way down the cliffs of time. A fact about the cliffs is that they can be climbed down safely from the top but not up from the bottom.

The Nagas

The clan of Nagas that live in the hills and is not of these lands. Traveling to them was only possible with the help of a Green Water Goblin guide. The Nagas guard the Swords the Shaper made for slaying flying creatures within the hills.

The Tricorne Hobbits of the King's Rapiers

A Band of ex-Kings Rapiers that are expelled from the Western Kingdom when they lost favour in the Kings court. They are keen to return to regain their stature within the Western Kingdom as the loyal protectors of the King, but their archenemy is the Arch Bishop of Mordeaux. They are often friendly to the Adventurers Guild of Seagate. The are well dressed and have red tri-corn hats. They are being provisioned by friends from Crystal Spring's by way of short cuts

  • At the start of Winter 810 the hobbits received a missive from King Ulric Schwarzrotgold asking them to return to his service. 40 hobbits departed to Konigburg at once and the rest await the news that all is well while they clean their uniforms and resume practice sessions in the hope of their resumption of purpose in protecting the King once more.

The Muffin Monster of Amber Village

Rippon the Roofdweller is a small badger that is a Shapechanger Brownie who lives in the village of Amber. He speaks Common very well although he has all but forgotten how to change back into a Brownie. He is friends with the wise old Owl. He is known as the Muffin Monster (because leaving muffins in the ceiling is a reliable way of summoning him) and Roof Dweller (as he lives on the building roofs). He is wise to the goings-on in the village and looks over the small town and often tries to get parties to help if in town.

The Stone Troll that was raiding Amber Village. (Dead)

The Stone Troll was living to the north of Amber village in the old Dwarven tunnels in a hill. The troll had captured the water Nixie called Clementine and was using her like a set of magic bagpipes. When the troll squeezed her enough Clementine would let out her magical siren that would charm humans out of their homes for the troll to kill and eat. A party of adventurers killed the troll and freed Clementine.

Clementine the water Nixie

Clementine the Water Nixie

Clementine is now a close friend with Catherine the leech witch. She was released from the Stone Troll that was using her to Charm people out of Amber village. As a water Nixie she is a water mage, and often makes trips from the swamp (see Kathrine) to the Guild. She is a friend and allied to Feldo and Gross and doesn't trust the Harpies. She has been held by the Harpies for a few months and now hates then. She was released by a guild party.

Water Beavers

Longtooth the Giant Beaver and his wife. They can talk and can cast magic according to some but others say not. The water Beavers were damming the river that flowed into Amber village. A Guild party came to investigate after talking to Kathrine and Clementine, and unfortunately killed the Beavers. At the same time they destroyed the Shapers Elemental focus for Water that the Beavers where using. This lead to some great unbalances in the magic within the Fastness of Girwyllan. Near the end of Summer 806wk the Beavers returned to the Fastness with the Water Focus.

Lizard Men

Although not native to the area, and live some miles away the Lizard Men bank totaling around 25 in number, have been working with a group of pirates to raid up the river, inland. They have so far only made it to Catherine's swamp while foraging for food.
