Vigor harrasses me around lunch time. Portal to Seagate.

Olu waffles about a war veteran Uffo Clayhanger, supposed to be dead, but appeared from the Greenwood in manicles.

His clothes are raindeer from the plane of Winterland. Use a large bunch of crystals of vision to see a eliptical portal in the air, in a clearing in the forest.

3 Seedtime 822 WK

Fly back to Emmitsburg overnight and organise a beer and booze delivery.
Put into team Olive (us + Vigor). Fly up to Helen the Crazy Cat Lady. Cats don’t seemed to have noticed anything but they don’t really communicate back.
Head to see Polly with a wood axe from Helen. Get spell from the Tree but it has not heard of anything. Head into the forest and try to follow the tracks. Find tracks in the forest, looks artificial, with foot wide circular footprint.
The prints coming from NNW to SEE, and maybe less than a day old. We follow tracks, go SWW, then E, reach a clearing with a large pond (30 feet across), with a stream coming in from the N. Stream leaves the pond going S.
Attacked by a wood golem, which grabs Mayhem. Defeat it and it deactivates. Rank 10 animating magic. No answer from Magic from Portal. Fly up and is joined by Ledger Harfoot, a hobbit wearing chain mail.
He summons an alert team which turns up about 10 minutes later. Sapphire turns up and organises the team. We follow the tracks back. Get back to where we first encounter the tracks and follow them for another four hours. Gets dark so we stop for a break and then continue tracking through the night.
Around the false dawn we reach a small clearing, which contains an arch in air, which is opaque. After 90 minutes a backup team turns up. Head back to a clearing and get six hours of rest.
Tree is a Winterpine. Get winter clothes and a bag of potions.

Portal is inside bone circle, around 5 feet in diameter. The bones are part of the portal magic. The portal is Winter magic. Cross the bones and the portal popped and disappeared.

  • East: Rolling terrain then a mountain, a few miles away
  • South: A east-west mountain range, a long distance away
  • West: A lake, frozen, a few miles across, with a river exiting to the NE.

No sign of habitation or artifice. The cave mount points SE and the cave is in a small hill. Found footprints of both of a hobbit and the golem.
Uzi finds the tracks, each head into the forest. The forest is woodlands. Lose the tracks soon after entering. Uzi puts up a crystal of vision so see lake turns into a river, so we follow lake edge.
Find deer, which we kill and butcher. Travel along for a while before finding a place to camp up. It gets dark after a few more hours. Mayhem flies up and spots a lot of light on high on the mountain to the east and some light in the forest, around 5 miles to the NE.
Put of crystal towards the mountain but could only see a forested valley. We fly up and spot the light about 4 miles away and a mile in from the river. We are attacked by an sentient undead creature with Mind Magics. It was defeated, at which point it dissipated.

4 Seedtime 822 WK

Using a few crystals we scry a small fortification. There are a number of fires visible with a few figures on the wall. We fly up the river half a mile and find a trail from the river into the forest. Spot hoof tracks and possibly cart track.
We walk along the track until we reach the village. We sidle around the village and send in Mayhem to take a look around. Inside the village there is large pine tree with a dwarf impaled on a spike at its top.
The NE building looks to be with a number of dwarves and hobbits in bunk rooms. The E building is similar. The circular stone building is a food store room. The building to the S is a wood mill. To the N of that is a small accommodation, well kitted out. The are some sets of leather armour. The building to the N of it manufactory with a forge.
The building NE of the gatehouse is a store room with lumberjack. The main large building to the NW. The W chimney has smoke coming out. The E chimney has no smoke. The Eye dropped out when trying to go though the walls. There is a balcony all around the first floor of the building. On the western wall there are stables with reindeer.
Mayhem sneaks into one of the bunk room and finds a dwarf from Kanvar. Find a dwarf from Alusia. There are few others from different plane of origins.
Rest until before dawn then hide out in the trees to the south of the gate. Hear speech in elven. After a while hear singing the company antham. After an hour work gangs start to head out. Each worker has a collar with a bell on.
Follow group of two hobbits and four dwarfs. There are no guards with them. They travel for about half an hour before they reach their work site. Mayhem tries to communicate with a hobbit that is in another tree while the dwarfs work on the cutting down the first tree.
Question a hobbit, who says there are three ice elves in the village. All are possibly spellcasters, probably Ice. Offo used a stolen portal device. Get bones and ice crystal from mines, which is in the mountain to the east.
Most of the hobbits in the mountain and the hobbit (Boso Bracegirdle) been here around 25 years. Bell looks to be a simple bell without any magic.
Same three elves for all his time here (25 years). Dwarf on the tree tortured after Offo escaped.
People get escorted into the big house by the statues.
The plan

We sneak in and take out one of the guards on the wall. Then murder everybody in the barracks. We break into the big house through a window on the ground floor.
Explore the lower floor, the NE room is a wardrobe, the SE room has a bone circle portal. Room to S of the N corridor have hobbit servants. To the NW is a large kitchen, currently being worked by two hobbits. To the SW is a dining room with a long table, with three chairs and it set for breakfast.

Enter the lobby and head up the stairs. Attack elf, who turns to snow twice before finally being killed. He may have cursed Ishamael.

Fire resistance - minor 4. Wintersight - 5. Cold beauty - does not effect emotions The potions are healing potions. Weapons have ice enchantment, medium level. Get some additional gingerbread men. Get amulets of luck, fear (aqulegious) and elder flowers.
