Rankene
Rankene
Rankene was once the capital of the ancient Rankene Empire, a city of great age and renown, said to have stood somewhere upon the Bay of Rankene, though its exact location is now uncertain.
Old fragments describe it as a place of advanced stonework, waterworks, harbours, temples, and imperial roads, but whatever greatness it possessed ended suddenly around 2,500 years ago (circa -1700wk, 500PP PrePanjari - see Panjari) in a disaster of earthquake, flood, and collapse.
Later ages found little more than forested hills, marshy hollows, scattered stone fragments, and half-buried traces where a city may once have stood. Scholars disagree over whether Rankene was destroyed, swallowed by the land, drowned beneath silt, or simply lost beneath centuries of growth.
