The Lakes of Xant are nine in number and are nestled in the valleys around Xantenburg and it is suggested that they hold the water that eventually flows down the Xanten River towards the sea.

Castle Xantenburg is an ancient structure and historically it was used as a prison for at least 200 years until around Wk 600 when it fell into disrepair after the last prisoner there died. The Baron of Xantenburg decided to rebuild the Castle in 662 and embarked on a building program to restore it to its former glory (less the prison cells) as well as adding 4 large towers on each of the castle cardinal points. The castles rebuild and an improvement was completed in 666WK and the Von Gothe Family moved into the new castle leaving what is now the Merchants Tower in Xantenburg.
