County Volar is the home county of the Duchy of [[Volar]]. It is an area of around 40 miles by 40 miles in the mid-east of the [[Western Marches]]. It is the most civilised area of the Western Marches, and acts as a setting for the largest and most important city in the region, [[Volar_City]]. The area has a slightly teutonic flavour, due to most of the early setllers being Aquilan. Its neighbours are [[Eastdale County]], [[Leodara County]], [[Aveice County]], and the independant baronis of [[Halkor]] and [[Karne]].

==History==
County Volar was first settled around 400 years ago, as part of the establishment of the Duchy Volar. There were a few native villages and orcish squats, but they were cleansed. As the original settlers cleared and settled the area, they moved from their original corner of [[Eastdale County]], and drove the barbarians and orcs back into the hinterlands. Since then, apart from the [[Silent March|northern rebellion]], Volar has been the cohesive centre of [[Western Marches]] civilisation and culture.
