Don&amp;#039;t adventures normally &amp;#039;push back&amp;#039; with &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;about&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; the same &amp;#039;force&amp;#039; as the party can potentially apply (using a wide definition of force)? That&amp;#039;s the point, isn&amp;#039;t it? If the party performs significantly below their potential, then they should fail (or &amp;#039;succeed&amp;#039; while acquiring penalties).&lt;br /&gt;

Sort of but normally a level is an indication of what the GM thinks the game would be best suited too, and make for a fun game. So if you see a Low level you can/should generally take a low level character on it, so you donâ€™t spoil the game for others - IMHO. &amp;lt;br&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;

I&amp;#039;ve used the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Newtonian&amp;#039;&amp;#039; adv level as a descriptor before -- somewhat in jest, and somewhat seriously.  I&amp;#039;ve generally used it when there are various approaches to a problem and depending on what the party wants to do (what their abilities are, and what approach they favour) the level may change.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Sneaking around and being subtle might only rate a &amp;#039;&amp;#039;medium&amp;#039;&amp;#039; on the standard scale, but if the party decide to kick in the front door the level could escalate badly.&lt;br /&gt;
